Junior Software Engineer – 5G NTN RAN (L2/L3)Our mission is supported by an ambitious vertically integrated approach: design & manufacture of small satellites combined with development of earth observation services.Since its creation in 2018, the company has already grown substantially. Our team gathers more than 25 engineering expertise, from hardware design to software development & data science.In 2025, Aerospacelab counts offices in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Toulouse (France), Lausanne (Switzerland) and US West Coast with more than 350 full-time employees, with the ambition to position itself as the European leader in small satellites.Your MissionWe are building the future of 5G connectivity in space. As part of Aerospacelab, you will design, implement, and deploy 5G protocol stack components tailored for Non-Terrestrial Networks. You will work alongside experienced engineers to help bring high-performance wireless communication over satellite links to life.You are a curious and motivated engineer, eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’re excited by the challenge of working on deep-tech systems and passionate about seeing your contributions have real-world impact.DutiesDesign, implement and validate 5G NR NTN gNB L2/L3 features according to 3GPP specificationsDevelop Aerospacelab-specific enhancementsBuild performance tests, unit tests, logging, and support infrastructure to ensure software qualityDeploy and validate software in lab and field environments, including satellite link emulation and hardware-in-the-loop systemsMust haveAcademic or practical experience in telecommunications, embedded systems, or software engineeringFamiliarity with 3GPP 5G specifications and protocol stack conceptsProgramming skills in C/C++ or RustEagerness to learn, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindsetNice to HaveExperience with DPDK for high-throughput data processingExperience in embedded software developmentAbility to analyze and troubleshoot low-level system performance bottlenecksExposure to 5G stack developmentInterest in satellite communications and NTN systemsWhat we offerBuild your own career pathDirect impact on the growth of the companyFast-paced environmentFlexible ways of workingSalary package consistent with your experience
