Summary
Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services, LLC is looking for a Senior Metrologist. This position will ensure precision and accuracy in our measurement processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for metrology activities at our site, working with a team of metrology professionals, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
Perform functional duties IAW NAVAIR METCAL Program, Navy contract, Statement of Work, and corporate Quality Management System (QMS).
Handle calibration standards, test equipment, and customer assets in support of NAVAIR program.
Oversee Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) technical aspects of operations, production efficiencies, and training management.
Assist in establishing technical/administrative directives, policies, and procedures for functional operations to include adherence to the QMS Plans.
Assist in solving PMEL technical issues.
Perform duties assigned by the Site Lead; participate and assist with other Metrologists and Quality Assurance (QA) to oversee equipment production, meet Turn‑around Time (TAT), prioritize workload, and comply with safety and security practices.
Interface with customers, Metrologists and QA to report/resolve calibration/maintenance support issues and limitations; participate in root cause analysis and corrective action determination.
Identify contract‑related issues using SOW, NAVAIR regulations, and QMS, and channel them to the Site Lead for resolution.
Adhere to RCA conclusions and resolutions, conduct Baseline Calibration List reviews, updates, inventories, and preventive maintenance inspections.
Comply with Safety Program, Training and Calibration Support for the PMEL and associated customers.
Collaborate with the Site Lead, QA, and Metrologists to continuously improve laboratory operational effectiveness.
Perform and administer internal audits as necessary.
Review and deliver reimbursable reports.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
Full range of knowledge associated with the mission requirements of PMEL customers and the technical requirements of the SOW.
Understand, communicate, and comply with the terms of the contract.
Experience applying knowledge of electronics, physical/dimensional principles, troubleshooting techniques, calibration traceability, metrology techniques, and Navy PMEL laboratory practices, policies, and procedures.
Advanced knowledge of electrical components, electronics, electromechanical, mechanical, physics, optics, flow theory, force application, safety, and thermal principles as they apply to metrology practices.
Good organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or
Associate’s degree in a related field plus 4 years specialized experience, or
High School diploma and at least 8 years of specialized experience.
Experience with maintenance data collection systems, supply, transportation, and email.
Experience in planning, directing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, overhauling, aligning, and calibrating complex laboratory measurement standards and equipment.
Experience in developing policies, instructions, procedures, and operational guidance for laboratory operations; establishing daily and long‑range plans; advising management on training programs, manpower, facility, and budget requirements; implementing safety, quality control, and assurance programs; handling reimbursement procedures; scheduling equipment and production; submitting maintenance data; supporting equipment management.
Available on site during normal duty hours.
Valid driver’s license.
Pass pre‑employment drug screening.
Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) are a plus.
Pay and Benefits
Compensation is $41.21 hourly. Using rates published by the Department of State, recipients also receive a Cost‑of‑Living Allowance (COLA), Living Quarters Allowance (LQA), and an education allowance for children.
